Publishing Services

From sample chapter to final files.

What to send, how long it usually takes, how we check it, and how we look after your files.

The process

  1. Send a sample chapter

Send a chapter or a few figures with your stylesheet or specification. Ask for an NDA first if you need one.

  2. Review pages in 48 hours

Check the page design, fonts and margins, or the corrected figures, before you commit the title.

  3. Agree scope and schedule

We confirm the quote, dates and files for delivery, and raise anything missing from the source on day one.

  4. Proof and hand over

Each title is preflighted against your printer's requirements before the final files go to you.

How we check it

  1. Typographic check

We go through the spreads for bad breaks, loose lines, and inconsistent styling.

  2. Second read

A second person checks the file against the stylesheet, looking for styling errors and misplaced labels.

  3. Preflight

Fonts, margins, bleed and colour are tested against the printer's requirements before handover.

Confidentiality

  • We sign your NDA before you send files, if you ask
  • Client work is never shown as a sample without written permission
  • Unpublished text is never used to train AI models
  • Working files can be deleted at your request after publication

Questions we're asked

Can we see pages before committing a title?

Yes. We set your first chapter or a batch of figures to your specification and return it within 48 hours.

Can you work as our subcontractor?

Yes. We work to your specification, on your schedule, and sign an NDA where you need one. Tell us how you'd like files and communication handled.

Why don't you show client work?

Our clients' titles are theirs, so we don't show them without written permission. Our specimens are set on out-of-copyright text, and the sample chapter shows how we'd handle your actual file.

Will you change scientific data when fixing figures?

No. We correct presentation such as fonts, resolution and colour, and leave data points, curves and measurements as supplied. You get a before-and-after proof to check.

How are corrections handled?

Two rounds of corrections are included. Mark up the PDF and send it back. Because we're in India, corrections sent at the end of your working day are usually back by the next morning in the UK, Europe and the US.

What do you charge?

We quote each title on its extent, complexity and schedule, after you've seen the sample.
